Apple Unveils Foldable iPhone Duo With 24,800-Yen Official Case
Apple announced the new foldable smartphone "iPhone Duo" on September 10 (Japan time), with a domestic release scheduled for October 23. The device features a 7.6-inch display when unfolded, but its price ranges from 364,800 yen for the 256GB model to 574,800 yen for the 2TB version. The high cost has sparked user concerns about protecting the device, particularly regarding display damage risks and the lack of a clear case solution. Apple has addressed this by unveiling an official magnetic protective cover priced at 24,800 yen, featuring a stand and available in navy blue or brown technical woven material. The cover's price exceeds typical smartphone cases, which usually cost under 2,000 yen, bringing the total package to nearly 400,000 yen. This premium pricing marks a significant departure from the affordability of older foldable phones.
