Ukraine launches massive drone attack on St. Petersburg oil terminal and data center
Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on St. Petersburg overnight Saturday, targeting an oil terminal and a data center in Russia's second-largest city, located over 850 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The attack began around 2:30 a.m. local time, with Russian officials reporting 127 drones shot down and debris damaging parked cars. The oil terminal, one of Russia's largest for storage and export, reported explosions and fires, while the VKontakte data center was also hit, along with a bridge and transformer station causing power outages. Ukraine has previously struck St. Petersburg, last in July, and resumed attacks on Russian energy facilities after a brief pause as a concession to US President Donald Trump's "energy ceasefire" proposal, while Russia continued bombing Ukrainian power infrastructure.
