Ukraine's October 17 power cuts: which regions face blackouts
Ukraine will impose electricity consumption restrictions on October 17 due to the aftermath of massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, with measures lasting most of the day but not applied in all regions. Industrial and business power limits will apply nationwide from midnight to 11:59 PM, while hourly blackout schedules for all consumer categories will be in effect from 6:00 AM to 11:59 PM in some regions, ranging from one to 2.5 outage groups. Ukrenergo advises residents to check circuit breakers, account for air raid delays, and monitor official regional energy operator channels, as schedules may change rapidly. Russia reportedly plans to cut power supply to Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa by up to 90%.
