Russia hit Ukraine's energy sites 76 times since Trump's ceasefire, Zelensky says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia has attacked Ukrainian energy and oil-and-gas infrastructure 76 times since US President Donald Trump announced an "energy ceasefire." The attacks included strikes on substations in Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions overnight on October 18, leaving tens of thousands of families without power. Zelensky noted that Russia also struck residential buildings, killing a 27-year-old woman in Zaporizhzhia and one person in Poltava, with four others injured. Trump declared the ceasefire on October 11 after a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, though Ukraine said it was unaware of the agreement. Zelensky added that Russia interprets signals of potential profit as confirmation that continuing the war works, urging increased pressure on Moscow.
