Ukraine to enforce power outage schedules on October 18 after Russian strikes

unian.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukraine will impose power outage schedules for businesses and all consumer categories on Sunday, October 18, due to the aftermath of massive Russian attacks on energy facilities. Restrictions will apply from 06:00 to 23:59 across all regions. Hourly blackout schedules, ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 queues, will be introduced in some regions. Regional energy operators have published specific outage times for areas including Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Poltava, Kyiv, and Chernihiv, with schedules subject to change. The measures follow one of the largest Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy system, which damaged over 15 generation and transmission facilities. Vinnytsia experienced a complete blackout on October 17, with critical infrastructure running on backup power.
