Zelensky asks EU for 70 billion euros in 2027 defense aid

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on EU leaders to provide at least 70 billion euros in additional defense aid for Ukraine in 2027, citing the need to counter Russian aggression. Zelensky stated the war will cost 155 billion euros next year and requested the funds for defense, weapons, and resilience. He emphasized the need to boost drone production to double or triple pressure on Russia. The request follows an October 1 EU-Ukraine meeting concluding no additional international financing was needed for 2026. Ukraine recently received 1.2 billion euros under the Ukraine Support Loan program.
