Gerasimov reports to Putin on launch of massive strikes on Ukraine's energy grid

rbc.ua (Russian) —

Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to Vladimir Putin on the start of massive strikes against Ukraine's energy infrastructure, framing them as a response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian industrial and military-industrial facilities. The Russian military stated it will continue striking Ukrainian energy facilities, military-industrial enterprises, and strategic bridges. This comes despite a US-brokered "energy ceasefire" announced by President Donald Trump, which Russia has continued to violate. On the morning of October 16, Russian strikes damaged energy facilities in Kyiv and five other regions. Earlier this week, a massive attack hit all three thermal power plants in Kyiv simultaneously.
