Drone attack on St. Petersburg oil port sparks massive fire
A drone attack on a Russian oil port in St. Petersburg caused a massive fire, with additional strikes reported on a data center and an electrical substation. The attack led to significant disruption, including reported blackouts and service outages. The fire broke out at the oil terminal, which handles the storage and export of petroleum products. Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko reported 57 drones were shot down, with debris damaging cars and causing a fire in the Nizino settlement. Monitoring channels also reported a strike on the VKontakte data center, causing widespread digital service interruptions, and a possible hit on the Vostochnaya substation. The St. Petersburg oil terminal is one of the largest transshipment facilities for petroleum products in the Baltics, with an annual capacity of 12.5 million tons. The attack follows President Volodymyr Zelensky's promise to resume strikes on Russian refineries after a three-day pause, a move criticized by US President Donald Trump.
