Russia Hits Ukrainian Steel Plants and Power Grid in Overnight Strike

usnews.com —

Russia's defence ministry said on Saturday it launched a large-scale overnight attack on Ukrainian infrastructure, including the country's largest steelworks in Kryvyi Rih, owned by ArcelorMittal. The ministry claimed the plant supplied steel to Ukraine's military-industrial complex and said it also hit an electricity substation in Zhytomyr, another steel plant in Zaporizhzhia, and a cargo vessel in the Black Sea allegedly delivering military cargo to Odesa. ArcelorMittal had suspended the Kryvyi Rih facility's operations in September after Russian ballistic missile strikes. Reuters could not independently confirm the ministry's report.
