Russia's Dawn satellite network threatens real-time drone strikes on Ukraine

war.obozrevatel.com (Ukrainian) —

Russia is developing a satellite network called "Рассвет" (Dawn) to enable real-time control of drones and missiles for precise strikes on Ukraine, according to Ukrainian presidential advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov. He called it the "main threat" in an interview with AP News. The system would allow Russian operators to guide Shahed drones and other weapons via direct satellite link, rendering Ukraine's electronic warfare systems ineffective. Beskrestnov warned this could enable highly accurate attacks across the entire country, with full continuous coverage potentially deployed within six months. Ukraine is seeking countermeasures and pushing for international sanctions, but faces challenges developing defenses against a system not yet fully operational. Russia has reportedly tested jamming methods against Starlink, while Ukraine's own Starlink terminals have experienced restrictions during high-speed movement.
