Russia strikes 15+ Ukrainian energy sites in major grid attack
Russia attacked over 15 critical Ukrainian energy generation and transmission facilities in one of the largest strikes on the country's power grid, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. The overnight assault involved more than 320 drones and various missile types. Zelensky said the most difficult situation is in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn, with damage also reported in Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. He noted Russia aims to exhaust Ukraine's reserves and complicate grid restoration ahead of winter. The president called on the US to apply effective pressure on Russia, criticizing the lack of action on Senator Lindsey Graham's bill that would impose sanctions. He thanked European partners for new aid packages while warning that weakened pressure encourages further attacks.
