Ukrainian drones strike major Siberian chemical plant in Surgut
Drones struck one of Russia's largest chemical plants in Siberia, causing a fire at the Surgut plant, approximately 3,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Emergency services are responding, and authorities are assessing the damage. The attack targeted the Surgut Condensate Stabilization Plant named after Viktor Chernomyrdin, owned by Gazprom Pererabotka, which processes a mixture of oil and gas condensate. The governor confirmed the incident but did not specify the facility, while the OSINT channel Supernova+ published video of the blaze. The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is a key oil and gas producing region for Russia. Separately, on the night of October 16, drones also hit an industrial zone in Balakovo, Saratov Oblast, potentially targeting a Sberbank data center and a metallurgical plant.
