On the night of October 18, a massive drone attack targeted Saint Petersburg and Moscow, causing fires at an oil terminal, a data center, and a power substation, leading to power outages and disruptions to VKontakte services. The attack hit the Petersburg Oil Terminal, a major Baltic export hub with 30 tanks, and the ICVA data center supporting VKontakte, causing widespread online service failures. A 330 kV substation was also struck, leaving parts of the city and region without electricity. Moscow reported 87 drones shot down, while Leningrad Oblast claimed 95. Pulkovo Airport temporarily restricted operations, and fires were extinguished in three districts. This follows recent drone attacks on Yandex data centers in Kaluga and Vladimir.
