Russian strikes hit western Ukraine: Rivne lyceum damaged, Kovel trucks ablaze
Russian forces are attacking the Rivne and Volyn regions of western Ukraine, striking a lyceum in Rivne and causing fires at a truck depot in Kovel, with one person injured. Rivne regional governor Oleksandr Koval reported a massive attack on the region, stating the lyceum was hit but there were no casualties. Volyn governor Roman Romaniuk said Kovel was targeted by Shahed drones, burning about 10 trucks with semi-trailers and damaging a local customs terminal. Officials urged residents to remain in shelters until the air raid alert ends. Earlier on October 16, Russian drone attacks left Lutsk without electricity and struck private enterprises and critical infrastructure in Volyn, including a foreign-invested company.
