Moscow's three main airports halt flights for second day after drone attack

rbc.ua (Russian) —

Three Moscow airports suspended operations for a second consecutive day, following a mass drone attack on the Russian capital the previous day. Flights were halted at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky around midnight on October 17. Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) introduced temporary restrictions on flight arrivals and departures, citing the need to ensure flight safety without specifying a concrete reason. The day before, the same three airports plus Sheremetyevo were closed due to a mass drone attack. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed the earlier attack, reporting about 50 drones targeting the city, though he made no mention of drone threats on the current night. On October 14, Ukrainian forces launched hundreds of strike drones toward Moscow and the region.
