Moscow's three main airports suspend flights for second day

rbc.ua (Ukrainian) —

Three Moscow airports — Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky — suspended operations for a second consecutive day starting around midnight on October 17, according to Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia). The temporary restrictions on flight arrivals and departures were introduced to ensure flight safety, though no specific reason was given. The previous day, the same three airports plus Sheremetyevo halted operations due to a mass drone attack on Moscow, which Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed involved about 50 unmanned aerial vehicles. Unlike the prior day, Sobyanin has not reported any drone threat in the sky during the current night. The closures follow a pattern of recent Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Moscow and the region, including an attack on the night of October 14 when hundreds of strike drones were directed at the Russian capital and its surroundings.
