Russian forces strike Ukraine's largest steel plant and energy sites

mk.ru (Russian) —

The Russian Armed Forces struck Ukraine's largest metallurgical plant, Zaporizhstal, along with other industrial and energy facilities in Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, and Zhytomyr using precision weapons and drones. The strike on Zaporizhstal, formerly part of Rinat Akhmetov's SCM group, targeted a facility capable of producing up to 1.44 million tons of pig iron and over 1.3 million tons of rolled steel annually, with output reportedly used for military industry needs. Transformer and energy infrastructure were also hit. Earlier, Oleksandr Kalenkov, head of the Ukrmetallurgprom association, stated that steel production in Ukraine completely ceased in September, attributing this to the consequences of Russian strikes.
