Russia Strikes 15 Ukrainian Energy Sites in Bid to Cause Blackout

nettavisen.no (Swedish) —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Russia attacked 15 critical energy facilities overnight in an attempt to cause a blackout before winter, potentially leaving millions without power and heat. Zelenskyy reported over 320 Shahed drones and numerous cruise and ballistic missiles launched in the last 24 hours. He called the US decision to drop sanctions a "reward" and "encouragement" to the Kremlin, urging allies to increase pressure on Russia. Russia's defense ministry also claimed strikes on steel plants, including ArcelorMittal's facility in Kryvyi Rih, and a tanker in the Black Sea. One person was killed in Kherson, with 19 injured, while one death was reported in Russia's Belgorod region.
