Ukraine downs 152 of 180 Russian drones and one missile
Russia attacked Ukraine with one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 180 drones on the night of October 17-18; Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 152 drones, but strikes were recorded at 20 locations, and the attack is ongoing. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 152 Shahed-type drones, including 16 jet-powered ones, Gerbera drones, and other types were shot down or suppressed. Debris from downed drones fell at four additional locations, and the missile was launched from Russia's Voronezh region. The drones were launched from Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea. Aviation, missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups repelled the attack, with about ten enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace as of 8 a.m.
