Apple unveils foldable iPhone Duo in biggest redesign, but price and supply may limit appeal

Apple will unveil its first foldable smartphone, rumored as the iPhone Duo or iPhone Ultra, at its "Surprise and Shine" event on September 9, marking its biggest redesign ever, but the device is expected to be vastly expensive and hard to buy. The phone features an outward display that folds out like a book to double screen size, and is widely rumored to be the first iPhone to exceed $2,000 or £2,000. Supply could be limited due to a chip crisis, dubbed "RAMagaddon," affecting high-end chip procurement, which has already pushed up prices across Apple's lineup. The foldable design may require compromises, such as a TouchID fingerprint sensor instead of facial recognition and removal of the telephoto camera.
