Zelenskyy warns Trump's Russia diesel deal will fund Putin's war effort
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized US President Donald Trump's decision to ease restrictions on Russian diesel imports, saying it would fund Moscow's war effort, and accused Putin of treating peace talks as a "parody" while urging European allies to provide at least €70 billion in additional support for Kyiv next year. Speaking at an EU summit in Brussels, Zelenskyy said the diesel deal would put more money in Putin's pocket, and he dismissed Trump's criticism of Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries. EU leaders rallied behind Kyiv as Russian attacks continued, with drone strikes killing three in Kharkiv and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Zelenskyy said the war will cost €155 billion next year, and he also raised concerns over disruptions to the Starshield satellite system, which Europe cannot quickly replace. EU members remain divided on budget and energy issues, with Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson noting there is no agreement on the bloc's budget.
