Russia Accuses Ukraine of Striking Two Oil Refineries
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak accused Ukraine of attacking two oil refineries in the Ryazan and Saratov regions, according to state news agency TASS on Wednesday. Kyiv immediately denied the claims. Novak said the facilities were hit and that Ukraine shows no movement toward an energy ceasefire. Ukrainian officials dismissed the statement as disinformation, with a Zelensky advisor saying refineries were not attacked but a data processing center was successfully struck. The accusation marks a shift from Moscow's usual practice of rarely commenting directly on such incidents. Russia has an interest in blaming Ukraine for violating the energy ceasefire brokered by President Trump, while Ukraine says it has suspended attacks on Russian oil infrastructure.
