Macron tells Zelensky France will keep standing with Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday that France will continue supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression, calling collective backing "capital" during a European leaders summit in Brussels. Macron reaffirmed France's determination to stand with Ukraine and its people, stating Paris will provide all necessary means for defense and civilian protection while Russia escalates. Zelensky thanked Macron and reported a Russian drone attack on Lutsk's energy infrastructure causing power cuts. The meeting comes amid political pressure from far-right leaders Marine Le Pen and Alice Weidel questioning Ukraine support. Macron and Zelensky also discussed new military packages for Ukrainian combat aviation and European antiballistic defense work, with Zelensky attending Friday's summit session on Ukraine support.
