Europe braces for a world where Trump sides with Moscow
European leaders are preparing for a world in which US President Donald Trump aids Russia and effectively sides with Moscow, according to Bloomberg. They acknowledge they cannot stop trying to appease him as he pressures Ukraine and offers Russia economic relief. Bloomberg reports that within a week, Trump reversed years of energy sanctions against the Kremlin, pushed Kyiv to halt strikes on Russian refineries, and questioned President Volodymyr Zelensky's legitimacy, echoing Russian propaganda. Ukraine also lost full access to Starlink, limiting its battlefield capabilities, while Zelensky said he felt betrayed. EU leaders at a Brussels summit privately acknowledged Trump's behavior is unlikely to change. They advise Zelensky to restrain criticism since there is no alternative to US cooperation, which provides vital weapons and intelligence. Europe maintains its stance on sanctions and territorial integrity, with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stating pressure should target the aggressor, not the victim.
