Trump clashes with Zelensky over Ukraine aid and refugee warning
President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him "more difficult" than Putin and blaming him for rising energy prices. Zelensky responded by praising European leaders as "true leaders" during a summit in Brussels. Zelensky received support from the 27 EU member states, who pledged to work on a proposal for 70 billion euros in additional aid for Ukraine in 2027. He warned that if Ukraine falls, 20 million refugees could flee to Europe, while stressing the need for continued military and financial backing. The summit conclusions urged international partners to urgently increase support for Kyiv. French President Emmanuel Macron announced work on satellite imagery and early warning systems for Ukraine, while Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni affirmed that sanctions remain Europe's best deterrent tool.
