Musk escalates political influence from Ukraine to India
Elon Musk called for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to leave office in a post on X, escalating his role as an unelected political influencer amid deteriorating US-Ukraine relations. The intervention coincided with reported restrictions on Ukraine's satellite communications. Musk's influence stems from SpaceX's Starlink network, which Ukraine's military relies on for drone operations and air defense. Ukrainian officials reported disruptions to satellite terminals, while Musk denied restrictions, attributing any limits to the US military. Polish and US officials publicly challenged him over the situation. Musk has spent approximately $366 million in the 2026 US midterm cycle to support Republicans, despite previously admitting he got "too involved in politics." He has also clashed with India's Mukesh Ambani over Starlink's regulatory delays, questioning the industrialist's political influence in the country.
