Musk demands Zelenskyy's resignation as Starlink service restored in Ukraine

tagesspiegel.de (German) —

Elon Musk has called for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to step down, writing on X that "it is time for Zelenskyy to go" and that "the massacre continues," referring to the Ukraine war. The demand follows a dispute over Starlink satellite internet services. Zelenskyy had urged Musk on Wednesday to restore Starlink operations in Ukraine after service was reportedly severely restricted overnight, warning that people would die if it remained nonfunctional. Ukrainian media now report the military Starshield package has been restored, though the defense ministry is still investigating the cause. Musk stated that Starshield is controlled by the US government, with any speed or usage limits decided by the US military and president. Ukraine relies on Starlink for combat drone control and US intelligence in its defense against Russian attacks.
