Zelenskyy Ends Energy Ceasefire, Vows New Strikes on Russian Refineries
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared the US-brokered "energy ceasefire" with Russia over and announced new strikes on Russian oil refineries, directly challenging President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy said he was not informed beforehand about the truce Trump unilaterally announced on Sunday. Zelenskyy told the Financial Times that Ukraine had paused its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in recent days, but Russia continued striking Ukrainian facilities. He also alleged that the Starshield satellite network was deliberately throttled on Wednesday and that Ukraine's access to US military resources and intelligence had been restricted. The announcement follows Trump's decision to allow Russian diesel imports into the US amid rising fuel prices before congressional elections. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said such attacks undermine US peace efforts, while Elon Musk wrote on X that "it is time for Zelenskyy to go." German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called for continued EU support for Ukraine at a Brussels summit.
