Ukrainian Drone Strike Sparks Fire at Ryazan Oil Refinery
A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Ryazan region caused a fire at an oil refinery on Thursday, marking the first such strike on a Russian energy facility since a U.S.-announced energy ceasefire proposal. The regional governor confirmed the incident. The attack follows President Donald Trump's Sunday statement that Russia and Ukraine agreed to an energy ceasefire, though neither side confirmed it. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukraine paused energy strikes for three days but would resume them because Russia continued attacking its energy infrastructure. The Ryazan refinery, owned by Rosneft, supplies fuel to Moscow and accounts for nearly 5% of Russia's total refining capacity. Governor Pavel Malkov said emergency services were assessing damage and that a warehouse was also hit, while school classes were cancelled in two districts.
