Musk proposed slowing Starlink in Ukraine to Trump, The Telegraph reports
The Telegraph reports that SpaceX owner Elon Musk proposed to US President Donald Trump the idea of slowing down Starlink operations in Ukraine. Trump reportedly agreed, paving the way for the Pentagon to implement speed restrictions on Starshield, the military version of the satellite communication system. On Wednesday, Musk denied responsibility for the access restrictions, blaming the White House and claiming any limits were set by the US military and ultimately the president. However, after Kyiv described a period of outages as a "night of bloodshed," a senior source said Musk was concerned about negative reactions from European consumers. Speaking at the White House on Friday, October 16, Trump said he did not believe he or Musk were responsible for Ukraine losing Starlink access. The Pentagon has not publicly explained the restrictions, while Senator Tom Tillis is initiating an investigation and President Volodymyr Zelensky called the decision a mistake that led to casualties.
