Ukraine's drone operations slow after Starlink restrictions as Trump shifts toward Putin
Ukrainian drone operations slowed after sudden restrictions were imposed on battlefield use of US-made Starlink terminals, officials said Wednesday, raising concerns about waning American support as Kyiv endured a second night of missile attacks. SpaceX imposed a speed limit on Starlink terminals mounted on drones overnight, disrupting operations and making slower attack drones more vulnerable to Russian air defences, said Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Kyiv also received no advance warning before an initial Russian ballistic missile attack on Tuesday night, Zelenskyy said, though he did not specify which partners failed to alert him. The restrictions come as President Donald Trump has criticised Zelenskyy and struck a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to import Russian diesel. Musk said the military version of Starlink is controlled by the US military and Trump. Russia struck six power plants overnight, leaving at least 600,000 people without electricity, while Zelenskyy visited London seeking further support.
