Musk says Trump responsible for Ukraine Starshield limits
Elon Musk said Wednesday that the U.S. government and President Donald Trump are responsible for any restrictions on Ukraine's military-grade Starshield satellite systems, stating on X that "any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS." Ukraine had accused SpaceX of imposing unannounced speed limits on Starlink terminals in motion, disrupting military operations amid Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. Ukrainian presidential advisor Serhii Beskrestnov said the restrictions also applied to Starshield, calling the timing politically significant. Some limits were later partially lifted, with former Ukrainian defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov urging full removal of Starshield's speed cap. The dispute comes as tensions rise between Kyiv and Washington over a proposed "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia, which Ukraine says Moscow has breached. The U.S. has threatened to cut intelligence sharing with Kyiv, and Ukrainian officials reported receiving no Russian attack warnings for two consecutive days.
