Ukraine Depletes Patriot Missiles as Zelensky-Trump Rift Grows
Ukraine has depleted its stock of US-made Patriot interceptor missiles, leaving it increasingly vulnerable to Russian ballistic missile attacks amid a deepening rift between President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. A Russian missile strike on Kyiv and Kharkiv killed four people and injured 25, with a source telling CNN that almost all ballistic missiles from the attack were not intercepted due to the shortage. Zelensky has warned for months about critically low Patriot stocks, having previously said Ukraine possessed only a tenth of the missiles it needed. The shortage follows a US licence to manufacture Patriot missiles that did not materialise, while Washington has pressed Kyiv to halt strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Ukraine is also facing disruptions to Starshield satellite communications, which have partially resumed but not fully returned to previous levels.
