Zelenskiy condemns US-Russian diesel deal, backs bigger European role in peace talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned a US-Russian diesel deal, called Moscow's peace stance a "parody," and welcomed a larger European role in negotiations during an EU summit in Brussels on Friday. Zelenskiy said Russia does not want peace talks in any form, while Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a "security zone" inside Ukraine as non-negotiable. EU leaders rallied around Ukraine after US President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries as a "disgrace." The diesel deal, which Zelenskiy said would fund Russia's war, drew criticism from French President Emmanuel Macron. Trump denied responsibility for disruptions to Ukraine's Starlink satellite service and said he wants Zelenskiy to "settle the war."
