Ukraine strikes Russian airfield, damaging six Su-34 fighter-bombers

n-tv.de (German) —

Ukraine says it struck a Russian military airfield deep inside Russian territory with cruise missiles, damaging six Su-34M fighter-bombers. Satellite images and Russian military bloggers support the claim. The Ukrainian Navy said it used Neptune cruise missiles in the attack on Borissoglebsk airfield in the Voronezh region, over 340 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory. Monitoring project Exilenova+ concluded four aircraft were completely destroyed. Russia has about 150 Su-34s, used for dropping glide bombs beyond Ukrainian air defense range. The airfield has been targeted before, including a July drone strike that destroyed a fuel depot.
