Lukashenko: Ukraine's Leader Is Not Trump's Call, but Zelensky Should Face Election
Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said Friday that US President Donald Trump should not dictate who leads Ukraine, while also urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to face an election. Lukashenko rejected outside intervention in Ukraine's choice of leader but argued Zelensky should honor his earlier promise to serve only one term. Trump has publicly called for a new Ukrainian leader, accusing Zelensky of refusing opportunities to end the war. Zelensky has rejected calls to resign, saying Ukrainians must choose their president and that constant Russian attacks make holding an election nearly impossible. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov claimed Trump suggested a new president because Zelensky lacks political will to end the war.
