Zelensky in Brussels urges US and Europe to impose real sanctions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the US and Europe to impose "real sanctions" during a speech at the European Council meeting in Brussels on Friday, October 16. Zelensky urged a strong 22nd EU sanctions package targeting companies and individuals involved in Russian missile, drone, and communications production, as well as those supporting Russia's financial system. He also expressed belief that most Americans still support Ukraine and that the American people will ultimately have their say. The address follows US President Donald Trump's October 15 interview with Newsmax, where he called Zelensky "not someone worth dealing with" and accused him of not wanting to negotiate an end to the war. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen disagreed with Trump, warning against trusting Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
