Belgium pledges 10 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine this year

rbc.ua (Ukrainian) —

Belgium has pledged to deliver ten F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine this year, according to Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Brussels. De Wever stated the jets will help Ukraine defend against Russian drone attacks, noting that Ukraine urgently needs combat-capable fighters. The delivery was delayed due to slower-than-expected arrival of replacement F-35 jets, though new aircraft are now arriving. Belgium originally planned to supply 30 F-16s by 2028, with deliveries tied to F-35 replacements. The leaders also discussed ammunition from Belgian company FN Herstal, and De Wever reaffirmed EU support for Ukraine.
