Ukraine's Patriot missile stock depleted after Russian strikes on Kyiv and Kharkiv
Ukraine has exhausted its supply of US-made Patriot interceptor missiles, leaving it more vulnerable to Russian ballistic missile attacks, a source familiar with the situation told CNN on Thursday. The depletion follows a Russian strike that hit three power plants in Kyiv and energy infrastructure in Kharkiv, killing four people and injuring 25. The source said "almost all" incoming ballistic missiles were not intercepted due to the lack of interceptors. The development comes amid a public feud between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over energy strikes and US weapons support. Zelensky has repeatedly warned of the shortage for months, previously claiming Ukraine had only a tenth of the interceptors it needed. Washington has pressured Kyiv to halt strikes on Russian fuel facilities, threatening to suspend European weapons purchases and intelligence sharing if Ukraine does not comply.
