EU leaders to urge Zelensky to temper criticism of Trump
European Union leaders plan to urge Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to moderate his public criticism of US President Donald Trump, amid fears of further deterioration in Kyiv-Washington relations, according to Western media reports. The leaders were surprised by Zelensky's sharp remarks in an interview criticizing Trump's agreements with Russia on diesel fuel supplies and the suspension of US intelligence support for Ukraine. Three sources told the Financial Times that EU leaders will discuss the issue with Zelensky at a meeting in Brussels on October 16, intending to delicately but firmly convey that his statements could complicate ties with Washington. Earlier, during negotiations on October 9 between US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and the Ukrainian side, the possibility of halting intelligence sharing with Kyiv was discussed if it did not stop strikes on Russian oil refineries, as reported by News.Mail.
