Ukraine and Russia trade overnight strikes on refineries and power grids

sapo.pt (Portuguese) —

Ukraine and Russia exchanged overnight attacks on Friday, with Ukrainian drones striking a Russian oil refinery and a Yandex data center, while Russian strikes on energy infrastructure left parts of Kyiv without power. Ukrainian forces targeted sites in the Moscow, Rostov, and Vladimir regions, forcing all Moscow airports to suspend operations for several hours. Russian air defense systems reportedly destroyed nearly 60 drones, and a refinery near the capital was also hit. The attacks follow Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement that Ukraine would respond in kind to Russian offensives. He told the Financial Times that the pause on strikes against Russian refineries was over, citing Moscow's failure to respect a US-brokered truce on energy infrastructure.
