Ukraine's Neptune missiles destroy six Russian Su-34 jets at Borysoglebsk airfield
Ukraine's military struck the Russian "Borysoglebsk" airfield on the evening of October 14, destroying or damaging six Su-34M fighter-bombers with domestic Neptune missiles, eliminating approximately six months of Russia's defense industry output. The attack was carried out by the Ukrainian Navy using the fully Ukrainian-made Neptune coastal missile system. Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk called it a significant precedent, highlighting synergy between Ukrainian developers and the armed forces, noting the Navy is the sole branch using this weapon. Russian media typically reports deliveries of only two to three aircraft at a time, making the loss of six jets substantial. OSINT experts estimate four Su-34Ms were completely destroyed, costing up to $200 million, with two more heavily damaged, adding roughly $70 million in losses.
