Drone attack closes airspace over European Russia, grounding Moscow flights

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

A massive drone attack has forced the closure of airspace over most of European Russia, with all four Moscow airports suspending operations. The move has created a no-fly zone for civilian aviation across central and western regions. Russian independent media ASTRA and Flightradar24 data show the airspace is empty as civilian planes reroute around the area. Authorities at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Sheremetyevo airports have imposed temporary restrictions, diverting flights to alternate cities. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported 59 drones shot down since 23:00, while residents posted images of fires. The attack extended to other regions, including Rostov, where governor Yuri Slyusar reported drone strikes damaging industrial facilities. Yaroslavl declared a red threat level and halted traffic toward Moscow, while explosions and air defense activity were reported in Smolensk and Ryazan.
