Ukraine strikes Russian airfield, hits six Su-34M jets in Voronezh region

t-online.de (German) —

Ukraine destroyed four Russian Su-34M fighter-bombers and damaged two more in a missile strike on the Borisoglebsk military airfield in Russia's Voronezh region, using its Neptune missile system. The attack, confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, targeted aircraft prepared for strikes on Ukrainian civilians. The airfield lies about 370 kilometers from the front line, and local videos showed explosions and a large fire at the site. The Neptune is a Ukrainian-developed missile with a range of up to 1,000 kilometers, previously used to sink the Russian cruiser Moskva in 2022. The Su-34M, costing around 45 million euros each, is a key Russian bomber for glide bomb attacks.
