Ukraine negotiates with SpaceX and Pentagon to lift Starshield speed cap

bostonherald.com —

Ukraine is negotiating with SpaceX and the Pentagon to remove a speed restriction on its Starshield military satellite service, a presidential adviser said Friday, after the cap disrupted drone operations against Russian forces. The limit, imposed without warning Thursday, cuts connections for terminals moving faster than 160 kph, forcing Ukrainian drones to slow down and become easier targets. Adviser Serhii Beskrestnov called the issue political, while President Donald Trump denied ordering it and doubted Elon Musk's involvement. Ukraine is seeking alternatives to Starlink, including Amazon and Eutelsat networks, amid fears of losing access. Beskrestnov also warned of Russia's emerging Rassvet satellite system, which he said could enable real-time control of drones and missiles within six months.
