Ukraine strikes Russian oil refinery after Zelenskyy ends energy ceasefire
Russia says Ukraine attacked an oil refinery in Ryazan, near Moscow, on Thursday, with a fire breaking out after drone debris fell on the site. The strike follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's declaration that Kyiv was "done" with an energy ceasefire unilaterally announced by US President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy told the Financial Times that strikes on Russian oil refineries would resume, accusing the US of weakening Ukraine's position by allegedly withdrawing intelligence sharing. Trump announced the ceasefire on Sunday, but Moscow continued striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure, while Ukraine suspended attacks on Russian energy sites for several days. The US has pressured Ukraine to halt refinery strikes, citing fuel price concerns and a potential diesel purchase deal. Zelenskyy also alleged restricted access to SpaceX's Starshield service, which Elon Musk denied, calling for Zelenskyy's removal. Ukraine seeks Patriot interceptors to pause strikes again, as EU leaders meet in Brussels to discuss support.
