Musk and Trump agreed to slow Starlink in Ukraine, sources say
Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the proposal to slow down Starlink in Ukraine, according to four sources, with Trump agreeing to the plan that hampered Ukraine's drone defences. The Pentagon executed the slowdown on Starshield, the military-grade satellite system, limiting drones to around 160kmph, making it difficult to intercept Russian jet-powered drones. Musk had publicly blamed Trump for the restrictions, but sources say both were involved in the decision. The slowdown caused a "night of carnage" in Kyiv, with Zelensky calling it a "very dangerous and unpleasant surprise". Musk denied responsibility, while Trump said neither was at fault. Poland's foreign minister warned Musk that European customers were "watching you".
