Germany urges lifting Starlink restrictions for Ukraine
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul criticized restrictions on Starlink satellite communication speeds in Ukraine, calling for their removal. He stated that since Germany finances part of the technology, it insists the service works as paid for, adding that Ukraine must receive all promised support. Wadephul acknowledged there is no complete picture yet on why access was limited, saying Germany has questions for the US that it will clarify. According to Reuters, the order to restrict the Starshield system, used for battlefield communication and drone control, came from the White House. Republican Senator Tom Tillis is initiating an investigation into Pentagon activities over Starlink issues faced by Ukrainian forces. Axios previously reported that the White House denied involvement in the restrictions, stating it does not control SpaceX.
