Ukraine launches largest drone attack of the year on Russian oil facilities
Ukraine launched its largest drone attack of the year on Russia overnight, striking a major oil terminal and ignoring President Trump's request to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. The attack targeted a St. Petersburg oil terminal with an annual capacity of 12.5 million tons, causing a fire, and also hit a logistics center and data center. Russia reported shooting down 1,015 drones, with one death and five injuries reported. The escalation comes amid rising tensions between Kyiv and Washington, with Zelensky warning that the US siding with Russia would be a "historic mistake." Trump has criticized the strikes and eased sanctions on Russian diesel imports, while Zelensky claims Russia has deliberately attacked Ukrainian energy facilities 76 times since a proposed ceasefire.
