Lithuania Thwarts Arson Attempt on Starlink Equipment Storage Site

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Unknown individuals attempted to set fire to a company in Lithuania storing Starlink equipment on the night of October 18, but the attempt failed, according to Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas. The sabotage was unsuccessful because the company had enhanced security measures after warnings of possible attacks. That same night, debris from an unknown drone was found in Lithuania, prompting fighter jets to be scrambled, though the drone was not shot down due to weather conditions. Paluckas convened a National Security Commission meeting for October 19 to determine the drone's origin and consider granting services additional powers to neutralize drones. The incident follows a September 23 fire at a Starlink ground station in Poland, which authorities investigated as possible sabotage. Two Turkish citizens were detained in Germany in connection with that fire, though Polish police later released them after determining they were not involved.
